Image result for own a catCats are adorable animals so much so that so many people across the world are very much addicted to keeping a few cats for themselves. Sadly, it is also known that some people are AFRAID of cats because of their looks and other reasons including superstitious beliefs but cats are really harmless when you get to live with one. You can ask me about it. Owning a cat is a very nice decision because you have not only decided to give a cat or some cats a home but also you are doing yourself quite a number of good.

From personal pleasure to a lot of health benefits, here are a few of the reasons you should own a cat today;

1. Cats can take care of themselves

Cats can look after themselves so if own a cat today, you don't have to do the extra work. Cats can clean themselves up with their saliva and they do that a lot. That means you don't have to waste time grooming or bathing your cat. Cats also have a sense of neatness as they won't do their "business" just anywhere until they are left with absolutely no choice. To prevent this, you have to provide them with a litter box or passage for them to freely go outside without the need of your help. Convenient isn't it?

2. Cats clear your yard and house free of rodents

Don't you just hate it when sometimes you enter your store house and see a lot of your saved valuables damaged by rodents? Well if you Own a cat today, its over for the rodents because its a common saying that cats and rats are mortal enemies even though their names rhyme, lol. Well, cats are predators that prey on rats. Simply put, cats eat rats that's just the way it is and rats naturally know cats are to be feared so even at the sound of the presence of a cat in the area, they run for their lives leaving your vicinity rodent-free!

3. Cats have incredible health benefits

Yes, believe it or not (own a cat today and you'll have no doubt), cats help out a whole tone when it comes to health. By just being in their presence and playing with them, they keep you entertained with their playful nature. Also, their PURR really helps both you and the cat itself in a lot of ways. With having a cat, you in turn feel much more alive. Here are a few of the many incredible health benefits of owning a cat;
  • Cats help reduce stress and keep you company when you're lonely.
  • They also help prevent depression.
  • Cat owners are seen to be livelier than their non-cat friends.
  • Cats can help improve your mental health and ward of stress.
  • By the interaction between the two of you, they can help improve your physical health tooo.
  • They detect when you're sick and you'll be astounded that they'll try to soothe you even more during this period.

4. Cats make a very nice alarm

Because why not? Cats are nocturnal animals which means they sleep in the day and are very active at night to suit their hunting nature. At the early hours of the morning, they tend to always need your attention be it to tell you they wanna cuddle or they're hungry or for the need to do their "business" and they don't want to do that on your bed or your bedroom floor (neither do you) so they would wake you by all means necessary. It is annoying at the the time yet very cute (Cat owners know what I mean).

5. Cats are low-maintenance animals

This means if you own a cat, you don't have to spend all your life's savings on keeping them alive and well compared to say, a horse. Cats sometimes even hunt for their own food so you don't have to worry about their lunch sometimes and cat feeds are not expensive, neither are their litter boxes or any other materials they may need.
